Our junior pool based swim sessions are run every Tuesday from October right through to the end of June 2019 and are open to children age 7-15 years. They are lead by Stewart Whitehead Level 2 Swim England teacher/Level 2 British Triathlon Coach and supported by a team of British Triathlon Level 1 coaches.
These sessions will be fun and friendly working on fundamental aquatic skills to develop core swimming skills. The sessions will cover front crawl technique – the primary stroke used in triathlon, fitness and stamina – oh and with lots of fun and games along the way! The long term goal is to prepare our youth for open water swimming sessions in the summer.
Children will be grouped together in lanes based on their swimming (front crawl) ability.
- Advanced lane: to be able to swim 100m continually front crawl
- Improvers: be able to swim 25m front crawl

Stewart is a level 2 coach whose passion lies in swimming. He has an impressive background in competitive swimming, being coached by Olympic silver medalist Martyn Woodroffe and competing to a national level as a youth. He first got involved in triathlon when he moved to the area in 2015, where he participated in a Try-a- tri event organised by the club. From that day he became a member of the club and began his triathlon and coaching journey. Stewart coaches both adults and juniors and is passionate about encouraging participation in multisport and to help individuals achieve their goals, whether it is for fitness, competition or just improving their swimming. As head coach of the youth team Stewart looks to inspire children of all ages by running fun and friendly sessions encouraging them to take part in triathlon events. Stewart also coaches with Milestone Swimming Club and offers filmed Swim Analysis to help with swimming technique.
